Choosing Porosity

Porosity affects how much product your concrete absorbs. Rougher or older concrete usually needs more stain.

Low Porosity Smooth, dense, or newer concrete that absorbs stain more slowly. Uses the highest coverage rate.
Average Porosity Typical patios, walkways, and slabs with normal texture and absorption.
High Porosity Rough, broom-finished, older, weathered, or very absorbent concrete. Uses more product.
